The home was designed by Domain Architecture & Design of Minneapolis.
According to designer Joe Johnson, the home’s arrangement
includes “boxes” that define spaces as zones.Home Show EPS Feature Homes built with structural insulated panels Walls of windows and French doors connect the spaces to sunlight and scenery. The main part of the home is only 16 feet deep, so it’s flooded with natural light throughout the day. According to project manager, Lee Bergum, visitors will see an unfinished structural shell upon entering the home, then move through more progressively finished and furnished spaces. The home will utilize EPS R-26 exterior SIPs, R-40 roof panels and a 16” floor truss system. As designed, the heating and cooling costs for the Idea Home will be at least 65% lower than in a conventional stud-construction house of the same size. The projected ENERGY STAR HERS Index Score is 35. Other home features:
