EPS will manufacture and construct the Idea Home for the 2018 Minneapolis Home + Garden Show. This year's theme – Classical Contemporary – brings together the contemporary designs consumers are searching for while respecting classic home design. It is represented by this home, Forest Glen.
The Idea Home features two rectangular ‘pods’ that form the backdrop for the outdoor living area. The contemporary styled exterior showcases a combination of light toned siding profiles in a composition of black windows, and wood tones on the deck and pergola. The mono-pitch roof lines and varied window shapes contribute to the fresh modern looking exterior. A distinctive, large timber pergola further defines this versatile outdoor living area.
This compact home is 972 square feet, but feels much more spacious with the use of patio doors, windows and soaring ceilings. Each of the two wings contain a bedroom which opens out onto the deck, and a bathroom, perfectly suited for two master suites. The large island kitchen is open to the living room and has access to the large front deck. Custom storage units throughout the house provide maximum storage perfectly suited to a compact home.
This year’s Idea Home was designed to meet the challenges of the ever-increasing cost of home building while providing great flexibility in the layout of the rectangular pods. It was designed by John Robinson of Robinson Residential Design.
The Idea Home is constructed of SIPS (Structural Insulated Panel System) which is an energy efficient alternative to traditional framing and eliminates the need for a vented attic. This design can accommodate a full basement or a crawlspace or slab foundation.
The Home + Garden Show is March 30-April 1 and April 6-8 at the Convention Center in downtown Minneapolis.
