EPS will manufacture and construct the Idea Home for the 2019 Minneapolis Home + Garden Show. This year's theme – Happy, Healthy Home – with everything from custom cabinets to innovative built-ins and the newest finds in furniture, accessories, and lighting design, all features of The Cascade will show attendees how to create a happy and healthy home.
The Cascade, the 2019 Idea Home, was designed to provide maximum living space in a small footprint. This is achieved by an incorporating an open floor plan with minimal hallways and varied ceiling heights. Designed by Sara Knapp of Robinson Residential Design, this contemporary home provides 1070 square feet of living space. The kitchen features a large dining island with seating for up to nine people. A floor to ceiling gas fireplace serves as the divider between the kitchen and living room while still maintaining a feeling of openness. The convenient patio off the master bedroom and den provide additional outdoor living space and help to bring the outdoors in. The generous number of windows bring in an abundance of natural light, while the large overhangs ensure shade when needed. As with previous Idea Homes, The Cascade is built with SIPs (Structural Insulated Panel system) which makes for an airtight, well-insulated home built quickly on site with the use of prefabricated panels. Fresh air is ensured through the HRV and opening windows. The Contemporary exterior is maintenance free with wood-look siding, white board and baton and black horizontal siding.
Robinson Residential are proud to be able to contribute their design expertise again for this year’s Idea Home. Over the last 23 years, they have built a solid reputation for their innovative designs of homes and cottages in all sizes and architectural styles. With their plans having been built in every state and province, they have become known across North America as a company who cares passionately about good design, affordability, and energy efficiency.
The Idea Home is constructed of SIPS (Structural Insulated Panel System) which is an energy efficient alternative to traditional framing and eliminates the need for a vented attic. This design can accommodate a full basement or a crawlspace or slab foundation.
The Home + Garden Show is Feb 22-24 & Mar 1-3, 2019 at the Convention Center in downtown Minneapolis.
