EPS will manufacture and construct the Idea Home for the 2020 Minneapolis Home + Garden Show. With everything from custom cabinets to innovative built-ins and the newest finds in furniture, accessories, and lighting design, all features of the home will show attendees how to create an accessible, Forever Home.
The 2020 Idea Home design is focused on demonstrating concepts about the forever home. Ideas explored here are about a conscious shift in how we live. This home takes a modern approach which embraces simple geometry and expansive glass to embrace the landscape and introduce ample daylight into a reasonably small space. Spaces are shaped drawing on guidelines of Universal Design and dimensional references such as the ADA and National Kitchen and Bath Association for access standards. Inside, while including color, texture and delightful whimsey, we also integrate Universal Design features with an array of systems and techniques, sampling how to make our homes safer more flexible and user friendly. Loon Architects designed the 2020 Idea Home. They specialize in lake homes, cabins, new homes and additions. Their designs include energy efficient building systems, sustainable materials and methods, durable detailing designed for endurance and integrity.
The Idea Home is constructed of SIPS (Structural Insulated Panel System) which is an energy efficient alternative to traditional framing and eliminates the need for a vented attic. This design can accommodate a full basement or a crawlspace or slab foundation.
The Home + Garden Show is Feb. 26 through March 1 at the Convention Center in downtown Minneapolis.
